The Yarn That Brings the Pattern to Life
This hat shines when knit in authentic Norwegian wool.
My preferred yarn for this project is Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, one of Norway’s most respected mills. Their yarns are soft, strong, and perfect for colorwork that lasts.
Recommended Hillesvåg yarn:

A Cozy Hat with Classic Norwegian Details
The double brim is the heart of this design – it sits softly, feels wonderfully warm, and gives the edge of the hat a gentle structure.
You’ll knit it in one piece and fold it up before continuing in the round.
The pom-pom is optional. Add it if you want a playful, wintery look, or leave it off for a clean, everyday style.
This pattern is simple enough for confident beginners, but satisfying for seasoned knitters too.
The Mountain Rose
Most of my patterns include the Mountain Rose, a small motif inspired by the landscapes where I live – steep valleys, quiet paths, and winter light. It has become a hallmark of my designs, and you’ll find it gently woven into this hat as well.
